Trick or Treat for NJ Knockouts?

October 31, 2007

It’s Halloween and the NJ Knockouts will be playing the NY Knights tonight. NJ needs to win and get the USCL playoff treat.

I’ll be dressing like Elvis to dish out candy for the kids while watching the movie Bubba Ho-Tep (in which Elvis battles the Mummy) and drinkin’ martinis. Too bad I don’t have candy chess pieces.

The ICC will be up on my laptop so I can keep an eye on all four games. Go Knockouts! Finish off those NY knights like Elvis would a peanut butter and banana sandwich!

For the Philidor fans…

Stefen Brucker has an interesting article on ChessCafe.com concerning a variation in the Philidor. The Philidor looks to be very versatile and can be used against 1.e4 and 1.d4. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet since I’m experimenting with the Budapest and, my main opening, the Scandinavian. Brucker labels this article as Part One so there should be more next month.
